 Neighbourhood Small Grants Program Coordinator Job Posting

Neighbourhood Small Grants (NSG) is a partnership with the Vancouver Foundation, the Delta Foundation and the City of Delta to grant up to $500 for individual projects that connect and engage neighbours, share skills and knowledge, build a sense of belonging and responsibility, and respect and celebrate diversity within our communities.

We are seeking to contract a Program Coordinator to work on a contract basis. The contract is for $5,000 and will cover November 2018 to December 31, 2019.

Assistance for this program comes from the Vancouver Foundation who has handbooks, training manuals, promotion material, graphics etc. The program will be coordinated in cooperation with the Delta Foundation.

Goal for the first year:

  • Launch the program, including setting up a Neighbourhood Grants committee, promoting the opportunity, and coordinating events;
  • Manage the program administration; and
  • Ensure a high number of applications are submitted for the grant funds.


  1. Neighbourhood Grants Committee
  • Set up the Neighbourhood Small Grants Committee of 6 – 12 people
  • Prepare NGC orientation packages (available from Vancouver Foundation) and sufficient information to ensure that NGC members are able to conduct their responsibilities as grant providers
  1. Promotion
  • Identify and implement strategies regarding marketing and promotion (recourse is the Vancouver Foundation). Delta Foundation will help distribute.
  • Develop an outreach plan specific to the community that engages residents AND encourages them to apply


  1. Events:
  • Set up NGC orientation (meeting of applicants)
  • Set up the cheque issue event
  • Set up end of grant season NSG Celebration
  1. Administration
  • Coordinate NSG materials (adapt from Vancouver Foundation)
  • Be responsible for all correspondence, communication and meeting minutes
  • Manage project finances with record keeping
  • Write up cheque requisitions
  • Set up evaluation as required
  • Write up final report
  1. Accountability
  • Submit work plan to the Delta Foundation and report variances
  • Prior to each contract payment, a report on activities must be submitted

This program exists in our surrounding communities and our partner, the Vancouver Community Foundation will support all aspects of the development of the program in Delta.

Should the initial year of the program be successful, there is the opportunity for it to grow. This would mean more money to grant out to the community and an increase in the Program Coordinator’s funding.
